Experience

2019-2023

GIVE International Volunteers
Volunteer and Writer

Volunteered on Zanzibar Island in Tanzania using the asset-based community development model to work alongside local leaders to create a sustainable impact within the community. While here, other volunteers and I helped members of the local village build critical infrastructure, learn English, and built lasting connections. After my time as a volunteer I became a consistent creative writer for GIVE’s blog to inspire others to get involved with their organization.

2019 - 2020

Gablers Writing Program

Scholarship Recipient

Accepted into the first year of UCSB’s Gabler’s Writing Program where I began my own personal creative writing project about the importance of gratitude, while simultaneously collaborating with other students and mentors to strengthen our writing abilities and expand on our creative ideas.

2020 - 2021

Raab Writing Program

Scholarship Recipient

Accepted into the year long Raab Writing Fellows Program where I have continuously worked on a multimedia creative writing project that explores the deep connection with our bodies and their ability to shape, define, and reinforce our sense of self.  With the intent on furthering my writing potential, I have been working closely with other peers and associated experts/mentors in the field.

Summer 2021

Princeton Review
Prep Instructor

As a volunteer tutor in Rabat and Casablanca, Morocco, I facilitated after school tutoring sessions with students of all ages. I worked closely with students aiding them in SAT tutoring, specifically in reading and grammar, as well as provided writing assistance for college applications. Additionally, I provided one on one English language lessons for younger students and strengthened my value of education, culture, and connectivity.

Winter/Spring 2022

Internship with Professor Mona Damluji
Research Assistant

As a research assistant in the Film and Media Studies Department at UCSB, I conducted research for Professor Damluji’s book project “Pipeline Cinema.” Researching blackouts, heatwaves, and the narrative of perpetual crisis in Iraq, the work analyzes how the media represents Iraqis navigating accelerating climate change, infrastructural failure, and economic instability. Our work calls on the media to highlight the resilience of the Iraqi people, rather than a site of destruction.

Summer 2022

PSP Production Company
Executive Assistant

As an Executive Assistant at Public School Pictures Production Company, I executed various administrative tasks daily while collaborating and assisting with creative projects. I produced creative content to be shared on the company's social media page to maintain their brand and marketing.
